My invitation is:
"Meet with me in my relaxed rural studio for a personal one-on-one consultation to design your most special Wedding Dress for your most special day."

My Vision for you:
The design process that we start will be to capture the essence of how you want to look on your wedding day. My system has evolved over the last 12 years of making special dresses for special brides .
We will look at all the many facets that come together to influence the style and design of your perfect gown such as climate, family, setting and figure, all to ensure you look and feel both beautiful and stunning on your Wedding Day.

Your ideas listened to:
You may have lots of very specific ideas or may have just decided on a date and groom.
If you are in the later category I really suggest you buy, beg or borrow some bridal magazines and collect ideas of anything that appeals. Ideas could also come from a favourite historic period (I used the 1940’s for inspiration for my own wedding), a flattering dress that you like the line of, a colour that you love, or even woman’s magazines to see what Hollywood stars are wearing are excellent source ideas.
But even if you have very little idea as to specific details you will be amazed at how many dresses I can get from very little input. That’s just what I’m really good at!

Special touch fabrics:
I can suggest fabric, lace and other trim options and I have direct access to several wholesale fabric suppliers’ ranges which are much larger and not available through retail outlets.

That perfect flattering fit:
Once you and I are happy with a design on paper, before touching your selected fabric, we work with 2 to 3 (or even more if needed) calico fittings to test the design. This is to see that the overall effect is as planned, and that little details such as necklines are perfect to the nearest millimetre.

Experience helps:
This process too, is part of the system I’ve evolved over the last 12 years of making dresses to ensure you feel comfortable in, as well as looking beautiful in, on your Wedding Day.

As I’ve been involved in so many weddings I’m happy to suggest ideas for any other details that you might need help with, this ensures your day is uniquely tailored to reflect you.

Time around you:
The numerous consultation and fitting appointments at my studio can all be done on evenings and weekends as well as normal business working hours.

The best day in your life:
The dresses I create for my clients are special and unique. They are to the highest standard design and fit, and their finish compares with any modern designer. This does take time and will reflect in the fact that my dresses usually retail from $1300 to $3000.
However, as I only design and craft for around 6 weddings a year you will be assured of my one-on-one attention throughout the whole process.

Time Frame: I would like to hear from you as soon as you are engaged. At your initial complimentary appointment we will get to know each other and I will get my head around the type of look that is perfect for you. Bring with you any ideas that you have. We will flick through magazines, look at fabrics and I will probably make some rough sketches. If you like where we are heading I will ask for $150 for me to design, sketch (onto your silhouette) a few options, collect fabric swatches and quote for your dress. This $150 is refundable off the final payment for your dress and is a one off payment regardless if we need to repeat this stage.

Once we have decided on a design I will ask for a 20% deposit at which stage I will purchase all the required fabrics & trims.

I start the fitting/calico process anytime after this to fit in with when we both decide is best for your schedule. As a lot of brides are dieting & working out to the 11th hour we can leave it as close as 6 weeks out from the wedding date to start this stage. I like to have you collect your completed wedding dress 1 week prior to the big day. This way we can be assured that your body shape won’t change drastically to alter, the by now perfected fit, and yet you can be relaxed in the knowledge that your dress is perfect, for that final busy week.

Thank you for sharing my vision:
Having recently been married myself I’ve become an advocate of not only the wedding day (we definitely don’t have enough ceremonies in today’s society) but also for the lovely indulgence in yourself in preparation for the day. How many times in our lives can we justify spending so much time & effort on ourselves? The rewards are huge. The whole evaluating process to make the many decisions required leading up to the big day allows you learn a lot about yourself. I uncovered a lot about myself that I didn’t know existed! I had no idea I was so unique! A very empowering experience and you get to have the day of your life as a bonus as well!

I love the challenge of designing for and working with unique figure-types and skin tones. After many years of professional pattern making I am more than confident to take on an unusual figure or design. See my portfolio for examples.
I also adore colour and love to use it as part of my designs.

I do look forward to meeting with you and hearing about your special day, dreams, and needs.
